Webinar: The Importance of Reference Materials in the Agri-Food Sector

The second session of the webinar series organized by the METROFOOD-IT Consortium is scheduled for January 30 at 11 AM on the WEBEX platform, featuring the event titled "The Importance of Reference Materials in the Agri-Food Sector." The topic, of particular relevance to the agrifood industry, will be addressed by Dr. Claudia Zoani, a researcher at ENEA and coordinator of the METROFOOD-IT project.

In order to make food quality and safety objective and measurable, it is essential to develop accurate and sensitive analytical methodologies that allow the identification and quantification of contaminants, nutritional or nutraceutical substances, origin markers, ingredients, and additives. This enables the detection of fraud and adulteration. Particularly crucial are suitable methods and reference materials, which are defined by the International Vocabulary of Metrology as "sufficiently homogeneous and stable material with respect to specified properties, established to be suitable for its intended use in a measurement or in the examination of classificatory properties".

To register for the one-hour event (conducted in the Italian language), participants need to enter their details on this page by the morning of Monday, January 29. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in real-time dialogue with the speaker, asking questions and seeking further clarification. Interested students can request a certificate of participation by emailing
