Strengthening of the Italian Research Infrastructure for Metrology and Open Access Data in support to the Agrifood
METROFOOD-IT participates in the Research Night on September 27
METROFOOD-IT will take part, on Friday, September 27, 2024, in the European Researchers' Night, promoted by the project NET - scieNcE Together 2024-2025. During the numerous scheduled events throughout the country, participants will have the opportunity to interact directly with scientists, take part in interactive experiments, and attend live scientific demonstrations, making science a fun and engaging experience for everyone, from children to adults.
METROFOOD-IT, in particular, will be present with a booth at the ENEA Research Center in Casaccia (Rome), starting at 3:30 PM. The planned event is titled "Do you know what you eat? Eating healthy and sustainably is possible" and will highlight how it is possible to improve nutrition even for the younger generations. Through a path filled with games, quizzes, and practical examples, the METROFOOD-IT team will demonstrate how to organize a sustainable shopping list and how to eat healthily and safely by "eating colorfully" (with the 5 colors of wellness) and seasonally.
During the event, a special questionnaire will also be distributed to participants, aiming to shed light on the perceived importance of research in the agri-food sector. The questionnaire can also be completed online to this link. The survey results will be published in the coming weeks on METROFOOD-IT's official channels.
Another Research Night event is scheduled at the University of Bari - Aldo Moro, a partner of the METROFOOD consortium: the research group coordinated by Professor Sonia Tangaro will organize the space "Artificial Intelligence Feeds the Future: Neuroscience and Food Innovation." Through this path, suitable even for young children, the role of artificial intelligence in the fields of neuroscience and nutrition will be highlighted, showing how these disciplines intertwine to innovate the future of food and nutrition.
Research Night initiatives are also being planned at the Federico II University of Naples, as per the attached poster. In particular, the contact person for the METROFOOD-IT Project, Professor Paola Adamo, has helped organize the Science in the Kitchen: from Federico II to Today portion. On this occasion, the famous Frederician cookbook the Liber dei coquina will be discussed, which contains current recipes that, however, date back to the time of Frederick II, such as genovese, gilded and fried anchovies.
