Strengthening of the Italian Research Infrastructure for Metrology and Open Access Data in support to the Agrifood
METROFOOD-IT starring at the Food Inspection Specialization School of the University of Naples Federico II

METROFOOD-IT took center stage at the Food Inspection Specialization School of the University of Naples Federico II, directed by Professor Tiziana Pepe. In recent days, two representatives from the consortium's partners delved into a series of highly relevant topics for the agri-food sector before an audience of first and third-year students.
More specifically, Professor Paola Adamo from the University of Naples Federico II focused on innovative techniques for food traceability and tracking, highlighting how these methods have extremely practical applications for all actors in the agri-food supply chain.
The subsequent presentation by Professor Sabina Tangaro from the University of Bari centered on the clustering of data regarding food contamination. In this context, several cases were presented, such as the geographical origin discrimination of a food item like mozzarella based on the microflora present in the final product.
Both presentations, each lasting about two hours, were listened to with great interest by the students enrolled in the school. During their talks, both professors discussed the role of the METROFOOD-IT infrastructure, emphasizing its positive contribution to the evolution of analytical methods, thanks also to the acquisition of new machinery funded by the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) linked to the project.
