METROFOOD-IT Takes the Stage at the 20th National Congress of Chemists and Physicists

Innovation in the agri-food sector will be a central theme at the 20th National Congress of Chemists and Physicists, scheduled to take place on November 23-25, 2023, in Paestum (Salerno). This year, the event's message is "CHEMISTRY AND PHYSICS: the heart of sustainable future." In a European and international context focused on promoting greater environmental, economic, and social sustainability, Chemistry and Physics can enable the improvement and innovation of production processes and products, ensuring the proper management of raw materials and energy resources.

Among the sectors of interest is undoubtedly agri-food, which will be the focus of a dedicated roundtable during the Paestum event, titled "From Food to Packaging: A Sustainable Process," scheduled for the morning of November 24th at the Sala Saturno.

Agri-food innovation in the spotlight with METROFOOD-IT

Specifically, at 10:10, there will be a presentation on the METROFOOD-IT project by Cesare Manetti, Professor at the University La Sapienza Roma (a partner of the METROFOOD-IT Consortium), titled "Innovation for the Quality, Safety, and Traceability of Foods – European Synergies." The presentation will showcase the operation of the METROFOOD-IT research infrastructure, funded under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), aiming to support research and innovation in the agri-food sector by providing integrated services, accelerating the digitization of agri-food systems, and enhancing their efficiency, traceability, and sustainability.

Afterwards, at 11.50 a.m. is scheduled the speech by Massimo Iannetta, Head of ENEA's Biotechnology and Agroindustry Division and President of the CTS of the National Technological Cluster AgriFood CLAN, entitled 'Innovation for the Sustainability and Competitiveness of Agrifood Systems'.
