September 22-24: Ljubljana Hosts the Eighth Edition of IMEKOFOODS

international congress

Food quality, safety, and nutrition are central elements in building sustainable food systems that ensure access to safe, nutritious, and high-quality food for all while reducing environmental impact. However, the globalization of food trade, world population growth, climate change, and the rapid evolution of food systems are profoundly affecting food safety and quality, with significant implications for public health and sustainability.

In this context, food safety, the authenticity of raw materials and products, and traceability play a crucial role in developing a more sustainable food system.

These topics require the development of innovative and cutting-edge analytical approaches, access to reliable and comparable data, and a shared responsibility among all stakeholders in the agrifood chain.

These critical issues will be addressed at the eighth international IMEKOFOODS conference, scheduled to take place in Ljubljana, Slovenia, from September 22 to 24, 2025.

The conference, chaired by Prof. Nives Ogrinc, the Slovenian representative of METROFOOD, will bring together scientists, professionals, and policymakers working in fields such as food metrology, analytical chemistry, microbiology, nutrition, food quality and safety, risk assessment, food authenticity, chemometrics, artificial intelligence, blockchain, traceability, circular economy, and sustainability—all areas where metrology plays a crucial role.

Bringing together these diverse expertise and professional skills can significantly contribute to consumer protection and the improvement of food systems in a rapidly changing global landscape.

The three-day conference in Ljubljana represents a unique platform for knowledge exchange, discussion of innovations, and research progress, with the goal of enhancing consumer protection and ensuring a safer, more transparent, and sustainable food system.

Full details about the event are available at this Link.

Participants will also have the opportunity to attend two optional pre-conference workshops on September 22, 2025:

Workshop 1: AI in Food Science – Dedicated to the applications of artificial intelligence in food research and industry.

Workshop 2: Soft Skills for Students: Project Writing – A practical guide to writing successful research and project proposals.

Researchers and students participating in IMEKOFOODS can present their research findings. The deadline for abstract submission is set for May 31, 2025.
