University of Napoli Federico II (UNINA)
The University of Napoli Federico II (UNINA), founded in 1224 by Frederick Hohenstaufen, King of Sicily and Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, is the oldest public university in the world. UNINA employs over 2.800 professors and researchers, affiliated to 26 Departments, 23 interdepartmental and 17 inter-university Research Centers, covering the full spectrum of disciplines, offered to a population of over 80.000 students.
UNINA is a strong driver of economic innovation, with > 600 industrial patents in the last 20 years and 81 currently operative spin-off. UNINA is the leading university in the South of Italy and is ranked in the top 2% of universities worldwide (QS ranking). Since 2016, UNINA joins the Aurora Network (https://aurora-network.global) and is strong advocate for gender equality and other nondiscrimination principles; has recently approved a gender-balance plan.
Paola Adamo
Is a Full Professor of Agricultural Chemistry at the Department of Agricultural Sciences of the Naples University Federico II. Her main research topics are: (i) Authenticity and traceability of high quality agro-products; (ii) Monitoring and mitigation of soils and sediments pollution; (iii) Soil-plant interactions and effects on nutrient biogeochemical cycling. President-Elect (2019-2020) and Past-President (2021-2022) of the Italian Society of Soil Science. She is involved with various roles in several research projects, among which METROFOOD-IT financed by PNRR-MUR, SUREFISH by PRIMA-EU (https://surefish.eu), ReBUS by Italian Space Agency (https://www.facebook.com/rebus.asi.it/) and TOMATO TRACE by Campania Region (https://www.tomatotrace.it/).
